New Exhibitor Supports Scottish Growth

July 16, 2014

Companies visiting this year’s Business Scotland exhibition are being offered expert advice on how to market their business overseas.

Translation services provider The Translation People – a first-time exhibitor at the show – will be offering free hints and tips on how to overcome cultural barriers when starting or developing an export strategy.

The Glasgow-based team already works with some high-profile Scottish brands, including BAE Systems, Aberdeen Asset Management Ltd and well-known global drinks company Diageo.

It provides a wide range of services to help companies large and small communicate effectively with customers overseas – including everything from translation of printed and online communications through to software localisation, voiceovers and conference interpreting.

Although Scottish exporters have had a difficult year in 2008, the competitive rate of the pound against the euro – and increasing help for export businesses – means that more companies are now targeting growth overseas.

Sam Bennett, manager of The Translation People in Glasgow, said: “Scottish businesses are well placed to reap the benefits of the challenging global economy, with a raft of government support available – including a multimillion pound package to help the food and drink sector.

“However, it is vital to invest in professional translation services in order to make the right impression, and to make it easy for overseas customers to do business with you.”

Sam, a languages graduate from St Andrews University, added: “We will be offering lots of practical advice to visitors at the exhibition, and demonstrating the wide range of expertise available from our locally-based team.”

The Business Scotland exhibition will take place at the Royal Concert Halls in Glasgow on 23 and 24 June 2009.
